There is a recurring theme in Sampson Community College’s Cosmetology Program each time the college is scheduled for its annual inspection. The program always passes with straight-A’s and this year is no different.

“This is always great news,” says Loreta Jones, Cosmetology Department Chair at SCC. “Our instructors always come through for us in the Cosmetology department. Thanks to the students and the instructors for such hard work here at SCC. They have worked very diligently, and we continue to do this because of them.”

The Cosmetology program once again made an A after their inspection by the North Carolina State Board of Cosmetic Arts. The NC State Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners was created to establish professional standards for the cosmetic art industry. The Board licenses over 80,000 individuals and businesses in the various branches of the cosmetic art industry including cosmetology, manicuring, esthetics, natural hair care, salons, public and private cosmetic art schools and programs.

SCC’s Cosmetology curriculum is designed to provide competency-based knowledge, scientific/artistic principles, and hands-on fundamentals associated with the cosmetology industry. The curriculum provides a simulated salon environment which enables students to develop manipulative skills. Course work includes instruction in all phases of professional imaging, hair design, chemical processes, skin care, nail care, multi-cultural practices, business/computer principles, product knowledge and other selected topics.
